About the DOB:
The NYC Department of Buildings ensures the safe and lawful use of over 975,000 buildings and properties by enforcing the City’s Building Code, Electrical Code, Zoning Resolution, New York State Labor Law and New York State Multiple Dwelling Law. Their main activities include performing plan examinations, issuing construction permits, inspecting properties, and licensing trades. They also issue Certificates of Occupancy and Place of Assembly permits. In all their activities, the focus is on safety, service and integrity.
To search for Department of Buildings Violations go to the website and enter your address on the left panel, under “Buildings Information”. Once you have done that, click on search and it will take you into your DOB property profile overview. Scroll down to the gray box and it will indicate your open violations. Click on the links to view the violation details.
The Department of Buildings issues two types of violations: ECB (DOB) Violations fall under ECB’s authority, these violations have penalties and require hearings. Violation Removal Inc. will attend these hearings on your behalf.
Internal DOB Violations do not have hearings, but, may have civil penalties attached to them. We work with the Building Department to file the necessary paperwork, reduce/make payments, and to conduct inspections to remove these violations.
